A New Community Building
For the past five years, San Marco Presbyterian Church has been working toward a simple goal:
to be a church that shows up for its neighbors.
This new community building is part of that commitment. It’s a flexible gathering space designed for the San Marco community—a place where people can come together and spend time well. It’s meant for more than events on a calendar.
As we complete the final pieces, we’re excited to start sharing what this space can become. We expect to host farmers markets and author talks, and we’re also leaving room for new ideas as the community helps shape what happens here. When the building is used, the income goes right back into the church’s mission in Jacksonville.

Use the Space
This community building was designed to be flexible.
It can host a full room of guests, a focused meeting, or a gathering that uses both indoor and outdoor space. If you’re planning something that brings people together, there’s a good chance the building can support it.
Because this is a ministry-minded space, it’s meant to do more than hold an event. When the building is used, it helps fund the ongoing work of San Marco Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.
What Can Happen Here
People are already imagining gatherings like:
- weddings and receptions
- fundraisers and community events
- meetings, trainings, and retreats
- networking events and professional gatherings
- celebrations like birthdays or retirements
- small group conversations and workshops
If you have something different in mind, that’s welcome too. The goal is to make room for good use.
Spaces that can flex around your event
A main event space for larger gatherings
The largest room is designed for events with a lot of people. It can be arranged with seating and tables based on what you’re hosting, and it connects easily to outdoor space so your event can flow between indoors and out. The room also supports multimedia needs for presentations, video, or live content.
This is a good fit for gatherings like weddings, receptions, fundraisers, and community-wide events.
Meeting rooms for focused gatherings
Not every event needs a big room. The building includes spaces that are designed to work well for meetings—comfortable, functional, and easy to set up for the kind of gathering you’re planning.
These spaces work well for board retreats, staff meetings, planning sessions, team trainings, and association gatherings.
Smaller spaces for conversations and groups
Some gatherings are better in a setting that feels less formal. The building includes smaller spaces that can hold a group comfortably for discussion, workshops, or time together.
This is a good fit for a small team gathering, a workshop, or a group that wants a quieter environment.
Outdoor space that expands what’s possible
The patio and courtyard can be part of the event—not just a backdrop. They work well for arrivals, mingling, and transitions. Outdoor areas can also be arranged to support your plans, including covered setups when needed.
This is a strong option if your event would benefit from fresh air, a change of pace, or a natural flow between spaces.
Space for kids, when needed
For events that include families, the building includes areas that can support children. That can look different depending on what you’re hosting, but it gives planners more options.
What we can provide
Setup + comfort
For many events, we can provide tables and seating and help you think through a layout that fits your plan. The building includes heating and air conditioning for year-round use.
Catering options
The building includes a full catering kitchen, and we’re building relationships with preferred local catering partners. If you want food and hospitality to reflect the best of the neighborhood, we can help make that easy.
Getting-ready space
For events that involve presenters, wedding parties, or teams who need a place to regroup, ready rooms are available.
Technology for presentations and multimedia
If your gathering includes slides, video, speaking, or other media, the building can support those needs. The main event space includes a large LED wall and an additional screen.
A grand piano
A grand piano is available for events that include live music, performances, or ceremony moments.
Why The Point?
San Marco is our historic neighborhood just south of downtown Jacksonville, nestled along the St. Johns River, and it’s defined by its square.
If you’ve spent time here, whether catching an event in Balis Park, grabbing coffee at Bitty & Beau’s, or sitting down to dinner at Matthew’s, Taverna, or Rue St. Marc, you may have noticed something: at the southernmost point of the square stands the spire of San Marco Presbyterian Church. We never took that as coincidence. We took it as a call to be an anchor to this neighborhood. That’s why we built The Point.
The Point creates space for the life that’s already here. A place for neighbors to gather, for conversations that might not happen otherwise, for events that bring people together in ways that feel a little different. You don’t need a connection to our church to use it. Every person can walk in, take part, and belong. No credentials required.
Belonging. That’s The Point. For us at San Marco Presbyterian, that’s always been the point.
